My bad. He said MSU played well. By default, that would mean Illinois played well, as the team is not great enough to suck and beat a team that played well (Northwestern, Maryland, Mizzou, etc.)

Things IL did well:
10 blocks, 4 steals, only 5 turnovers, 11 assists. Only 10 personal fouls. Shot 83% from the line, 50% from 2, 33% from 3.

LOL. Licksdongs said MSU "guards hard." Illinois, which has not been burning up the nets, shot 45 percent from the field.

Also, saying they "guard hard" is meaningless. The KenPom numbers, which I know people here ejaculate to, have them close to the middle of the Big Ten in AdjD. Too many people here STILL do not understand how and when to use statistics.

Keep bending yourself into a pretzel trying to defend his nonsense while also trying to pivot back to actual numbers. Can't do both at the same time.

Dainja doesn’t have much upside.  It’s his 3rd year of college.  Look at him like a college Junior.  He’s not a very good athlete.  Will never be a good athlete.

He has one good game and you run your mouth.  Facts are he’s a role player.  That’s it.

And the familiar refrain “they lose bc they party too much”.  I hate to tell you this, but Illinois loses bc they are horribly coached.  They don’t run anything.  It’s AAU ball. 

Once they start losing starts again you can go back to pretending you missed the games.

Penn State is mediocre.  They were up 24 on Illinois.

Mizzou is a good team.  They were up 35 on Illinois.

You know why those two teams blew the doors off Illinois?  They were taking and making wide open 3s.  MSU was 0-7.  That’s the difference.  Weren’t taking any, weren’t making any.

If you think taking mid range 2s is good basketball, it’s not. 

So MSU didn’t play well in any estimation.

Not many people were.  He wasn’t very good at Oak Hill and didn’t have many teams wanting him coming out of HS.  Beating out a bad UConn team wasn’t exactly a huge recruiting win.

Kofi was an anomaly and it helped Antigua was good at working with big guys.  Illinois got lucky with Kofi and Giorgi vastly ouplaying their HS credentials.
