What a waste of fucking money. That’s not gonna make a bit of difference for some people to get a fucking $50 gas card.
I’m sure the state will make it up by fining gas stations that don’t put the sticker up stating the the Governor is suspending the same fucking gas tax that he implemented in the first place.
Another example of creating a problem and then acting like a hero trying to fix it. It’s baffling how fucking dumb our politicians are.
Yes, it's a waste of money, it's definitely a weird bribe. As is the gas tax shenanigans.
Acting to be a "hero" by reducing the gas tax when prices have gone up for reasons unrelated to the tax is completely short sighted and counter productive. Now you don't have the funding for roads (not that roads are 100% funded by gas taxes, but gas taxes themselves are used for transport infrastructure). So the roads get worse, people save a buck on gas but they need new tires and wheels because of the potholes. And someone doesn't need to buy gas at all because his job paving the roads went away.
Somewhere along the thread it was pointed out Lightfoot is putting more money into this gas card scheme than the city puts into food programs. Gas cards benefit people who have the means to own a car and have been able to put fuel into it at 3,4 bucks a gallon. They aren't the most acute need, no matter how you slice it.
