unless you really abuse the kid they would still be net negative financially even with the credit. turns out people have sex and sometimes that results in a pregnancy

and if the conservative philosophy is poor people should not have kids, you figure instead of banning abortions they'd be funding them. certainly universal pre pregnancy family planning availability

Pay people to not have kids. That's the solution.

Two years of national service conveying a health care benefit that's heritable to a single person. If you want a big family, you buy health insurance for subsequent children.

Joe Manchin just saved us from a big pile of shit.

Wait, I thought you were in favor of BBB?

Manchin voted in accordance to his pocket and his donors, nothing else.

Nearly 74 percent of voters also said Manchin should oppose the president’s Build Back Better plan.

Not sure about that.

you've just described paying people to not have sex, in a world where people pay to have sex

or are you paying people to get sterilized, adolf?

One would have thought you learned about how to have sex without having kids in school....

Voters oppose big government inflationary deficit spending.

OTOH, other polls have show they support the specific programs of BBB by a large margin. I fail to understand why they don't vote on each one as a separate bill.

Abstinence works, but it's not very realistic. So they learn on the street. Like doing it standing up prevents pregnancy.

That has less chance than my plan.

. I fail to understand why they don't vote on each one as a separate bill.

because then they'd have a much harder time cramming all the extra pork, corporate welfare, and other BS into the bill because people might actually read them

Means testing and work requirements are not the worst thing in the world to require.

There is means testing in the proposal. Manchin wants lower thresholds.

I would have neither. Also eliminate the requirement to have children. Make it a universal per adult refundable tax credit.  Couple it with a flat tax. Eliminate all other individual credits and deductions.

Get rid of SNAP,  TANF, Section 8, Medicaid, the ACA, and so on. Expand and enhance Medicare to cover everyone. Raise the Medicare tax to pay for it.
