I don’t necessarily think he’s swayed guys away, those guys would have gone anyways. But he’s clearly an issue and not something you want new guys dealing with

Both Macon or Young would keep us that connection with the NY scene, CF the Baltimore one and in state. I like Young as far as youth, Macon for connections in multiple stops. Mennenga purely the PR connection.

Cant speak for Orlando but Coleman can’t stand him. Is that why he left? Probably not, I think he jumps anyways.

Underwood brought him here, it’s hard to fire him and not a very good look. Perfect scenario is he gets another job and problem solved.

Chet hasn't recruited anyone of note in his career. He can’t easily point to guys he had a hand in bringing in that are well known, or he helped in getting to NBA.
He is kind of guy you might hire as a niche player development guy if you value his defensive mindset to have around and who will be loyal to the program.

You don't need to use him as one of the 3 assts who recruit. At best, he is your third guy if you have two other guys who can take the lead with that.
We have Gentry who apparently is a real pain in the ass Barney Fife for Hulka who we can’t fire and nobody wants.

We now better find someone who can really recruit their ass off.

Best to Chet, and hope he develops some relationships somewhere that help us, but not crazy about this hire.

Both Young and Macon look good. Get them both if possible.
Good Experience, and solid records in recruiting.

Reassign Gentry to another role on staff and we are in good shape.

Most of the VT Boards actually credit Frazier as being the main reason for any success and are surprised he hasn't been pegged for a HC gig somewhere already? He fits what we need, and he certainly is being linked to most if not all recruiting success at VT. He also has been mentioned as being more important to the program than the head coach presently.

I think he fits into OA role as Asst HC easily....the actual recruiting part of it....we will see, but I do agree with need to get an established recruiter on board as well. Hopefully Chester surprises us arm chair coaches. I think he will. I like the hire. I don't think the "3rd" guy on the bench carries any weight  with recruits.
