Exactly. Cassidy Hutchinson's first lawyer during the January 6 hearing was paid for by Trump's people. She was reportedly unaware of that. After she fired him, Cheney reportedly helped her obtain pro bobo counsel.

I wonder why the accounts of Cheney and Hutchinson on the new representation differ ?
Maybe the Signal chats between Hutchinson and Cheney from the preceding days would shed some light.
Hutchinson says she contacted Cheney for help in finding a payment plan attorney, not pro bono representation.

Minutiae. The accounts I read indicated Cheney and or  that other woman helped her arrange a pro bono attorney. I am not going to sit up all night worrying about it.

I neither believe nor disbelieve her. She got some things right right, some things are disputed, and she was inconsistent on others.

It's like you pick around the edges looking for some minor, irrelevant detail to contest. I could probably wade through a bunch of web sites to see who said what or when, but I don't care if the 2nd lawyer was pro bono or if she made payments. It makes no difference.

Apparently, Hutchinson fired the lawyer Trump's people assigned to her. She got a new one via Cheney and that other woman. I thought it was pro bono. MN says it was on a payment plan. I couldn't care less either way.

Of greater interest is the story about the secret service agent(s) that organized Trump rallies,  planned to contradict Hutchinson, etc.

From a Feb 2, 2024 letter from the D.C. Office of Disciplinary Counsel to Passentino regarding the ethics charges filed against him.

"You were contacted by a third party, the Save America PAC, to represent Ms.
Hutchinson, a former White House employee, who had been subpoenaed to an interview by the
January 6 Committee. With Ms.Hutchinson's knowledge and consent, the PAC agreed to pay her
legal fees."

"Ms. Hutchinson made some allegations about your conduct to the Committee , but she refused to
cooperate in our investigation."

Passantino, who was, strikingly, formerly a top ethics attorney in the Trump White House, was paid by a Trump PAC called Save America, to represent Hutchinson. She didn’t know that at the time, because he refused to tell her who was paying him for the work, she said. She also said he shared details about her testimony with other lawyers working for Trump clients against her wishes.
