ouch, 0 for 42... but I'm sure they will totally be right this time, because the answer is more taxes and communism

Most of this is malarkey. Some is rooted in partial truths, but things happened.

There was what was called the green revolution. Note green meant something else back then. It involved the use of fertilizers and pesticides etc to increase food production..

Also, the Nixon era clean air and water acts/ EPA. Reducing sulfur dioxide and other forms of pollution has made a heckuva difference. Lake Erie is not on fire. There are fish in the Chicago River.

50 years ago there was some debate over whether particulate type pollution would cause global cooling, or green house gases would cause global warming. By about 1979 or so, the cooling theory had been dumped for a number of reasons.

No kidding. Anyone with half a brain would have gotten the other bingo card, the one with "Annual armageddon fires in California", "millions without power in deep freeze in Texas for several days"

Lake Mead has been under pretty significant drought stress, which means nearby states will be subject to more cuts to water allocations from the reservoir.  The first group to be impacted will be farmers in Arizona.  They will have to find ways to use water more efficiently.

Reno gets it's water from Lake Tahoe, which has one outlet, the Truckee River. Snow in the basin has been pretty sad

the snowpack is about average this year what are you talking about, prior year it was shit... thats why the fires were so bad last summer... the year before that we had quite a bit of snow so much we had flooding in the spring and the drought ended, in 2017 I was snowboarding at squaw June 4th...

shit varies in the sierra every year, and it has for literally longer than humans have existed on the planet

California water officials on Thursday reported the statewide snowpack is just 59% of average for this time of year as the state continues to experience one of the driest years on record.

It’s the second straight year of low numbers, after the Department of Water Resources recorded a reading of 53% on April 1 a year ago. The back-to-back low measurements could mean the return of summer drought conditions and water-use restrictions for the first time since 2016.

Fires in the mountains only tangentially are a function of the winter snowpack.

The issue lately has been that the spring/early summer has been so warm that the snow has melted super fast, providing heat and water for big early growth for the trees and underbrush. Then the snow runs out because it melted early, shit dies, then burns.

Neither of those have anything to do with climate change and everything to do with improper management.

Right. Because as everyone knows, Houston always freezes in the winter.

Neither of those have anything to do with climate change and everything to do with improper management.

In the case of the California wildfires, it’s both.

Climate Change Is Central to California’s Wildfires

“Conservative pundits who tout land management as the main issue fail to see the big picture.”

“...fuel treatments alone are not the solution; we cannot disregard that our contributions to climate change continue to aggravate our risk.”

“The science is clear. Climate change plays an undeniable role in the unprecedented wildfires of recent years. More than half of the acres burned each year in the western United States can be attributed to climate change. The number of dry, warm, and windy autumn days—perfect wildfire weather—in California has more than doubled since the 1980s.”
