You're talking about perception?

Illinois certainly has a better brand than Utah, but that's not really at issue here. 

It's also a better program historically, but it's pretty close.  Certainly much closer than say, Illinois and a Duke or UNC type program historically.

I think perception is part, if not the biggest part, of the equation in most players' eyes.

Surely the perception of Illinois right now has to be better than at any other point since current recruits were like, 3 or 4 right?

One would hope, but I am not sure that is the case. That is why this is a little troubling, especially considering the alleged money discrepancy.

When we were comparing programs I was comparing results - I wasn't aware I was supposed to be thinking about the program's "scope".

Odds are he didn't care one iota but was intrigued by 2004-05 like a lot of people in the northeastern Illinois area at the time.

I did. And you apparently hold them to the same standard for Illinois players as Illinois. Which is patently absurd if someone is trying to hold a serious discussion. No one thinks NU and DePaul are primary competition for Illinois for basketball players. How many players have we lost to those programs?
