He can go be a depth piece at Baylor or play off the ball at Utah. Michigan makes more sense, but they.will.suck..

We have a pretty good 10 man roster right now. The problem is it's either the two freshmen or point guard by committee. RayJ would fit nicely even without Shannon and or Hawkins.

Good news, Moretti is plus 15 lbs since he enrolled.  He was what? 150?

Dainja shed a bunch. Down to 250.

I realize your goal is objectivity, which is admirable; but allowing for literally anything (however random) to carry as much weight as logical conclusions such as “Illinois might be an attractive destination for an Illinois kid” is going overboard. Illinois SHOULD have an advantage over schools like Utah for Illinois players. It doesn’t mean that advantage will be capitalized on, of course.

I don't think suggesting that the parents of a kid might struggle to warm up to a coach who passed on him last time he got recruited is really as far fetched or 'random' as you're implying it is.

I also don't know that that happened and never said I did, but I'm done trying to explain that to you.

There's a dude that posts on the Scout basketball board whose kid is a current junior in HS basketball recruit (I think), a 3* recruit from central Illinois.  He pretty clearly doesn't like that Underwood isn't that interested in his kid, there are obvious hard feelings there.  He also says his kid doesn't feel a particular affinity to Illinois anyway and he doesn't want to push him there just because he likes it.

An interesting perspective on a similar situation.

Spark, Illinois is a better "program" than Utah. That being said, a scenario where the kid is salty that he was overlooked the first time around is a consideration.

They've been to the title game semi-recently, in 1998.  Have a tournament title from the 1940's.

They have four F4's to our 5 - post 1970, they have one and we have two.

They have 6 E8 appearances, we have 9.  Since 1970, they have two and we have four.

They have 16 S16 appearances, we have 11.  Since 1970 they have 10, we have 8.

I thought we were comparing the programs?

You're talking about perception?

Illinois certainly has a better brand than Utah, but that's not really at issue here. 

It's also a better program historically, but it's pretty close.  Certainly much closer than say, Illinois and a Duke or UNC type program historically.
