Leave? Brad says we were a team no one wants to play in March.

Perhaps because he expected us to be in the NIT?

Another question. How many guys hit the portal?

Hopefully none of Epps, Harris or Rodgers.

Melendez maybe.

Hawkins?

That’s like every other day now. Nothing new.

Oh. He won 20 games 4 years in a row! Oh, he's won the regular season title! Oh. he won the B1G tourney! Who the fuck cares when you have 2 AA and can't get to the S16? Idiots.

He meant to say watch, not play.

And he better say this year is on him.

Underwood has the same benefit that Fran McCaffrey has.  Since they followed really bad coaches, they have a never ending leash of allowed mediocrity.

He's the Glen Mason of B1G basketball coaches.

Am seeing rumors of Epps being gone along with Dainja, which would mean the top 6 scorers are gone assuming Hawkins goes pro.  Essentially the same kind of big scoring loss as last year and there's no Ayo or Kofi incoming to save Brad.

If those two leave just fire Underwood. I realize this is a different era, but my god, how many transfers can you have in two years? We could be talking 5 this year.

A guy with Brad's temperament might work 10 years ago.  This generation of kids are too sensitive for Brad and the more loose transfer rules don't help.

He and McCaffrey should be fired. Iowa gave up at least 50 points in the second half and made many dumb mistakes.

Nichi claims a guard with a 1.3 assist-to-TO ratio is a good passer.

We're in the tournament for the 3rd straight year. De facto 4th straight year. That's a level of regular success we haven't had since Bill Self's last recruits left campus. So let's be real, right now he's not on the hot seat and shouldn't be.

The tournament record is abysmal and the personnel management is suspect. This year's B1G play without Ayo or Kofi was a Groce-plus. I think it's going to take two years to get him on a hot seat with Bro Guenther as the AD, and I don't think Brad takes another job in the meantime with K-State in a good poition, Texas having a better candidate, etc. At this point I think the most likely scenario is that he retires from Illinois to a calmer life. He's roughly the same age as Jay Wright, and he's coming across as an advertisement to happy post-coaching life. Gets closer to 65 I could see him saying no more of this as most guys in their 60s do.

As to transfer portal, I hope we have Epps, Harris, Melendez, Goode, Rodgers, and Dainja are back as a core, and if Shannon or Hawkins want to come back you're not stopping them, I guess. I could see Epps or Melendez leaving. Dainja would surprise me. Lieb would not either way. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next few days.
