I'm biased, but the calls for Bielema (like Kedric Prince pushing him immediately on Twitter) seems inorganic as hell. He's the only listed candidate drawing bitter and hard dissent from a portion of the fanbase that I can tell. I can't imagine Whitman would want that fuss and be willing to stake his football legacy on a guy who washed out at Arkansas.

his record at UW Whitewater is very impressive, hopefully he can have success like Bo Ryan or something but for football, for the Illini

Absolutely no idea how well he can recruit. They did pretty poorly at Buffalo in comparison to their peers, but it seems like he recruits well to a system fit.

Good chance to see our new coach in action. Let’s hope he can recruit at this level. We know he can coach the players he gets, but will it be B1G caliber is to be seen. I think recruiting is based a lot on effort and I hope he’s up to the task. We sure know the last staff wasn’t.

I like Leipold (fellow cheesehead) and hope he succeeds.

There is certainly a bust potential factor but he passes the resume test as far as clear program improvement and conference domination. Shades of Underwood at SFA

I don’t know why but for some reason I don’t think it’s Leipold. Maybe it is just wishful thinking.

With all Whitman’s emphasis on being able to recruit at a high level, going out and hiring a guy that has never even recruited at a P5 level would be an odd move.
