So, I got a text from a friend who was a Wisky walkon way back when, claiming his HS friend on the Illinois board was asking about Bielema. "He's the top candidate right now."

What a trainwreck that would be....

From what I have been told, Bielma is Reggie Theus-ing this. He has tried his ass off to turn himself into a candidate and it’s not necessarily what it looks like. I don’t doubt he was given an interview but a simple call to Alvarez and I can’t imagine Whitman would do it. He burned a lot of bridges and has a terrible reputation

Plus, if he was the choice, this would be done. Seems pretty obvious the holdup is that their guy is coaching this weekend

And if the guy is an asst coach somewhere, it could have been taken care of even if his team was playing this weekend.
Still hiding behind innuendo and practicing the art of omission.

Agreed. Leipold or Monken I’m sure are the top 2. I’m guessing Leipold....or kind of hoping. You don’t wanna hire a guy who would have to change his whole offensive system in Monken. That would basically make a person not who they actually are and/or what got them to where they are. Just my opinion. Leipold has shown what he can build everywhere he’s went.

The way he and the staff neglected high schools in this state would constitute a for-cause termination in most other ultra high paying positions.

Yeah they were basically taking vacations to warm destinations instead of recruiting. Why stay in boring Illinois. They can all fuck off. I’d make a case for keeping Cory Patterson. Seems like he held up his end of the bargain.

I love Robert’s passion and commitment to the program but every time I read something he’s written (2-3 times a year, maybe) I feel like I just watched a John Hughes movie.

It's going to become increasingly hard to argue that relevance is just around the corner. But who knows, maybe people will be able to rehash those same emotions over a five-year cycle.

Also, per your sources, was Luke Fickell able to control his laughter?

I don’t know if they ever even talked directly. Whitman got in contact with Urban Meyer to help. The pitch was the B10W sucks and your path to the conference title game is manageable every year.

How many P5 players they produce since Lovie was named coach? I read 2 and one of them is Kruetz.
