From what I have been told, Bielma is Reggie Theus-ing this. He has tried his ass off to turn himself into a candidate and it’s not necessarily what it looks like. I don’t doubt he was given an interview but a simple call to Alvarez and I can’t imagine Whitman would do it. He burned a lot of bridges and has a terrible reputation

Plus, if he was the choice, this would be done. Seems pretty obvious the holdup is that their guy is coaching this weekend
I'm biased, but the calls for Bielema (like Kedric Prince pushing him immediately on Twitter) seems inorganic as hell. He's the only listed candidate drawing bitter and hard dissent from a portion of the fanbase that I can tell. I can't imagine Whitman would want that fuss and be willing to stake his football legacy on a guy who washed out at Arkansas.

I’ll ban myself to the “What is Nichi listening to” forever if he gets hired.

Not happening

oh okay

his record at UW Whitewater is very impressive, hopefully he can have success like Bo Ryan or something but for football, for the Illini

The orange sweater vest brigade will love Lance.

Absolutely no idea how well he can recruit. They did pretty poorly at Buffalo in comparison to their peers, but it seems like he recruits well to a system fit.

Good chance to see our new coach in action. Let’s hope he can recruit at this level. We know he can coach the players he gets, but will it be B1G caliber is to be seen. I think recruiting is based a lot on effort and I hope he’s up to the task. We sure know the last staff wasn’t.

With what we've been put thru, I'm hoping he and his staff can coach up the 3 stars until some 4 stars decide to sign up.

He better, because that’s all we currently have on the roster lol.

Side note: BheBhe announced for the NFL draft, so he’s gone.

I like Leipold (fellow cheesehead) and hope he succeeds.

There is certainly a bust potential factor but he passes the resume test as far as clear program improvement and conference domination. Shades of Underwood at SFA

I think he's got a pretty high floor relative to other coaches who would potentially take this job.

I don’t know why but for some reason I don’t think it’s Leipold. Maybe it is just wishful thinking.

With all Whitman’s emphasis on being able to recruit at a high level, going out and hiring a guy that has never even recruited at a P5 level would be an odd move.
