They don't have much choice but to join the other "news" sources. And they threw in the 'Joe is not part of the investigation' for a reason, to help with the narrative that there is no reason to bring up Joe.
Somewhere down the road, they want to be able to tell you that this is just a Hunter and James issue.

I don't recall anyone saying the laptop was all fake. Some thought it look it looked like it might be Russian disinformation. In that case, some of the content would be authentic. Iirc, some of the emails were pretty much authenticated long ago,   but there were also disagreements over the interpretation of the content.

It appears the feds are looking at a couple things. They could charge Hunter Biden with income  tax evasion. Problem is, he paid the back taxes. The other one is not registering as a foreign agent?

If he actually dropped off a laptop with meaningful stuff on it that could get him arrested, at a two bit computer shop - he should be arrested for being an idiot.

that's why I just presumed this story was just a bunch of hooey.

No wonder the US has great companies and a lagging Government. The best and brightest ain't choosing to run for office.

The shop owner's father took it to the FBI in the summer of 2019. They weren't interested.
The impeachment began, with allegations regarding Hunter and Burisma. Somehow, the FBI now became interested in Hunter's laptop.
Pre 2020 election, Joe said that the 51 intelligence agency members said it was Russian disinfo. They didnt say that exactly, but close.
Nonetheless, that was good enough for the presidential race, the debates, and the election.

I didn't have anything particularly incriminating on an old laptop of mine but I removed the hard drive and hit it with a hammer before taking it to electronic recycling.

And seriously, if Hunter Biden has acquired all this money, if his laptop is screwed up, why isn't he just buying a new laptop?

Also, what is going on that a laptop repairperson is opening up all the .jpgs on the laptop?

I just don't get this whole story.

The MAGAs obsession with Hunter’s laptop is a collective mental disorder.   

There loads of holes in the chain of custody of the laptop.  There are more questions about the Republicans having it, then there are questions about what the hell it has to do with Sleepy Joe. 

If the FBI finds wrongdoing, then let Hunter face the consequences.

I believe it was left in the repair shop for longer than the wording required in the repair order before the guy could view the contents of the laptop.
Ie: anything left over 90 days blah, blah, blah.

Plus there are 1-2 laptops still out there. Somewhere.

If we say for kicks that his whole laptop is full of donkey sex and nuclear secrets he's trying to sell to the Chinese he's... still not a public official, so it has no reason to be national news unless he's charged with something newsworthy.
