It is so nice that Fair quotes George Kennan. It is also nice when Fair, among others, like Bob Wright,  employ empathy for Putin while completely refusing to provide the same for Ukrainiams and the other ex-Soviet satellites.  Again, there is a reason they are all looking to join NATO, to avoid being dragged back into the Warsaw Pact.

That is a lot.  International relations are multi-layered and complex.  There are plenty of unseemly aspects that taint all involved.  Understanding much of the underlying reasoning is beyond our world of sound bites and tweets.  That being said, it's hard to feel much empathy for the Russian dilemma.   They have a long history of violating international norms, human rights and freedom of the press.  Their conduct in Syria was far more egregious than what's taken place to date in Ukraine.  I hope it stays that way.  One aspect that wasn't really touched upon in the read was Putin's need to become president for life.  He knows full well what happens to former dictators.  Shiny objects do come in handy.

If we don't pump that money into the economy; we have an economic disaster. The relief could have been more targeted, but Democrats  are still free market capitalists, not central planners. We need more effective government.

Related. Because of the way the tax credits were structured, i know people who unaffected by covid, but still got the full amount. Others lost their jobs, but got nothing.

I don’t feel any empathy either but I wish more people had a better understanding of the history and development of this situation. I do feel bad for the Russian and Ukrainian people who don’t support this and whose lives are being greatly impacted/taken.

I didn’t argue that we shouldn’t have issued the money. I’m just saying that much money has had an impact on inflation that’s been exacerbated by lingering supply chain issues

That is very different from what the right wing is pushing. They are saying the current inflation is caused by Biden's reckless spending and was avoidable.

Why should I care what a xenophobic white nationalist  organization is thinking? I am guessing they sympathize with Russian ethno-nationalism?
