Besides missing the point, you actually bring up some interesting thoughts. The point is, what does "locked down" mean? The only apparent difference between us and Sweden was they kept the pubs and restaurants open, with strict rules about  social distancing.
So, fifty-ish years ago, I would have missed bar-hopping, dining out, and going to movies. Would I have considered that locked down? I dunno.

Based on a dude who still has family over there, they had closed the HS's and colleges. Still kept playing hockey.

I suspect you blew off classes at Parkland, but at most reputable Universities there is some value from not just being self taught - which requires Professors.

My Sister in law teaches at UIUC, and has told the department she will not be teaching in person. She's a cancer survivor and wants no part of that shit. Especially after seeing that the kids have pretty much decided they are invincible and thus are willing to be superspreaders

He probably will be the 2024 GOP nominee which will continue the trend of senile old farts. He was on CNN and referred to Meg Whitman - who was the CEO of HP and Ebay, so not exactly a nobody - as "that lady who founded Ebay". He didn't know her name and she joined Ebay long after it was already a public company.

Because you're looking at graphs instead of the fact we invented a market that didn't exist a couple of years ago that is now a 6 billion a year business and has a huge growth runway. Sort of like people looking at graphs of apple stock and comparing it to other graphs instead of seeing the first iphone and understanding they just changed the world so back up the truck
