He lost, as an incumbent Republican, by 10 points in a state where a non-incumbent Republican won the governorship by 1.5-2 points a year later.

The lesson here is not that Trump is a good candidate.

Not among the entrenched Republican establishment of Fairfax, Loudon & Prince Williams Counties.

I don't think you can extrapolate that differential to any other portion of the US electorate. Maybe Utahns, but for different reasons.
