You can spin it however you want but I think Trump embarrassed himself plenty on his own. Everyone can see it. I’m not normalizing anything. I’m challenging the people who want change to be the adults in the room and convince people why they should vote Democrat rather than screaming about Trump until they’re red in the face.
Even when people know they are dead wrong you can’t change their minds that way. It’s those people that we need to convince to condemn Trump and vote against him. A good alternative candidate would help. Being positive rather than negative would help.
Think about it this way:
If someone walks into a crowded restaurant and starts screaming at everyone that meat is murder and they’re awful horrible murderers if they order a cheeseburger or a steak or chicken salad, a fair chunk of that group is gonna order meat because fuck you, that’s why.
You stand outside and hand out well-reasoned flyers to the guests and have passionate, yet calm discussions with that same exact group of people and you’ll probably get an entirely different response.
Everyone can see it and yet, millions voted for him and are going to vote for him again. Those are decidedly not the people you consistently go after for it.
If you're going to vote for a despicable person to be President because fuck you, that's why - then it's a fair assumption you're a despicable person yourself.
Ok so we know people like you aren’t gonna vote for him. We know the die hard Trumpists will. So who is the audience for your ire if not the people who can be persuaded or dissuaded by the rhetoric at this point?

more, not less. Most people aren’t always, or even often, rational decision makers. America’s obsession with alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, fast cars, gambling, sex, rock and roll, et al is fueled in many ways by that same principle.
So you, as someone who respects science, should understand this and not be so terribly indignant about it. The only people who will give a shit about what you’re saying are the people that already agree with you. If you want the people who don’t agree with you to start listening, stop yelling at them and telling them how stupid they are.
