The benevolent plutocrat's pronouncement on climate change gets the chattering classes chattering.  Our loudest resident voice of climate-science denial pounces on his words. 

Gates lost his way on climate change when he teamed up with Bjorn Lomberg back in the early 2000s.  Since then, he has downplayed future climate risks, overlooked the link between human welfare and ecosystem health, and conveniently ignored political obstacles to climate action.

Climate change is no longer a future-tense issue, so I hope Gates keeps funding climate mitigation projects.  He's certainly not a malevolent billionaire asswipe like Musk.  However, we should be cautious about following his climate advice.

Glaciers have been melting for 15,000+ years. They melt relatively faster when they get smaller. Champaign, Illinois used to be under a mile of ice. Even if humans had zero impact on the climate the idea that the climate would stay the same indefinitely is absolute lunacy.

Gates donates money to failed climate change initiatives that accomplish basically nothing besides making democrats feel warm and fuzzy and making the people who administer the initiatives rich.

EVs are great. Be a lot better if we built a better renewable grid not solely based on Chinese solar panels and wind turbines taking up prime farmland. Shame the liberals killed nuclear power.

OK, 2 posts ago, your story was it is just sea ice melting so they are nuts for moving the town because the sea isn't going to rise.

Now your story is that the glaciers are melting of course.

Pro tip - ice melts relatively faster when it's warmer. If you don't believe me, put your bourbon in the microwave before pouring it over ice.

Fetterman's region of the state has a LOT of people on the ACA subsidies. When the GOP fucks around and doesn't extend them, I will enjoy watching him explain it.
