Monsanto was acquired by Bayer years ago. They have fallen on hard times in the US ag sector for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the thousands of “harmless” glyphosate related lawsuits they keep losing. They cleaned house after the merger, have worked with lots of former Monsanto execs. They still control quite a bit of market share of course, but Corteva and Syngenta are key innovators too. Ag is sadly very top heavy both in suppliers of inputs and buyers of products. If the farmers would just listen to Alum and plant other stuff we’d be a lot better off.
