Why would anyone in this country want to deny anyone of healthcare?
I don’t really think any group actually wants to deny anyone healthcare. As a policy in this country we don’t actually deny people healthcare. Low income people have access to the kind of healthcare we see in western nations with single payer healthcare; while people who make decent money/have an employer pay for insurance and have more options. It’s a hybrid system.
The bigger argument is simply who pays for it and how. Healthcare is expensive and people are divided on how it should be administered and paid for in the US. The left wants to socialize medicine and points to other western nations as proof that it works.
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows. The US still leads the world in medical innovation because there’s money in innovation. Socialized medicine, like most socialized industries, suffers from lack of funding, innovation, and being overrun. That’s why people come from all over the world to get advanced treatments here.
We could have “free” universal healthcare here and “free” college like places in Europe and pay 50+% effective tax rates and everyone outside the wealthy could live in a shitty flat and not be able to afford a car. That sounds fun!
