There are still a lot of Congresspersons who are quite brilliant. It's just that there are quite a few morons. And while Boebert and MTG steal a lot of that spotlight, there are a lot of quiet morons in there who are probably more dangerous because they are writing legislation.

The thing is, really brilliant people go start companies or do research or are great litigators or professors. Congresspeople tend to be the intersection of "Narcissistic, Connected, and Rich" which has nothing to do with capability.

A lot of the stupidity is for show to get base donations and viral clicks. Lauren B and MTG may be legit stupid but 95% of them are normal when the cameras are off.

Also if we moved to a proportional rep system a lot of this nonsense would go away because you'd have party coalitions actually trying to accomplish things other than a stalemate.

Not selling guns to people seeking medical attention for mental issues like the latest loony would be a good start. Even the parents did not want said person having guns.

The GOP says we need to focus on mental health. A de facto admission there are a lot of crazy people out there.

How about - we get rid of the guns since there are a lot of crazy people, and if the GOP can figure out how to remedy that problem, THEN we can talk about letting people have guns.
