2. That he raised hell about being fired until his deputy was named to succeed him instead of a Trump political appointment.

3. Trump fired the last US Atty for SDNY despite personally meeting with him and requesting that he stay on post-inauguration.

We're not in conjecture territory, friends, this a rational inference land.

Some apparently thought Putin wanted Trump in place because he saw him as a puppet or even an ally?  I suspect he actually saw Trump as someone who would be an incompetent yet headstrong leader. Trump is bad for the United States and NATO. So in Putin's mind; he is good for the Russian Federation. That is my tentative take.

I’m not asserting they weren’t helping Trump win. I’m asserting that a mutually beneficial relationship might be better than the long-standing antagonistic one.

I understand the distaste for Russian government, but not their people. I know a fair number of Russian-born Americans, and all they ever wanted is what the West takes for granted.
