And this is under the current vote system, not national mail-in with ballot harvesting.

Good observation. 5 year olds won't get ballots. Trump should have pointed that out. I'm pretty sure it had more to do with if deceased voters and voters who have moved are not purged from registered voter lists, they can get a mail ballot at their last address on file.

I believe Twitter walked back on the last issue.

I can't imagine national ballot harvesting being an issue. lol.

I hate to tell you that courts have found Hans' "expert" testimony on this subject to be worthless as he has an issue with facts. Happened last I heard in that bastion of liberalism, Nebraska. That doofus Kobach was behind that case and the judge just demolished the two stumblebums.

Try again, MN.

Will Trump and his press secretary take absentee ballots this year too like they have been doing? Where is Custard's "ok for me, but not for thee" line?

Going from the current absentee ballot system to national mail-in with ballot harvesting just seems like a big step.
How's this from NBC ..
https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/politics/nj-naacp-leader-calls-for-paterson-mail-in-vote-to-be-canceled-amid-fraud-claims/2435162/?amp&__twitter_impression=true
Or from a Las Vegas paper..
https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/politics-and-government/nevada/primary-underway-but-argument-over-mail-election-continues-2031301/
These vote procedures would probably designed be more like the proposed national mail-in plan. And ballot harvesting isnt really mentioned.

I haven’t been paying any attention I had golf league last night and went kayak fishing tonight until the storm rolled in at dark. Looks like I’ve got a lot of reading to do.

Twitter cant put fact checks on people if they want to be considered a "forum". Doing that shit makes them a "publisher" and no longer shielded to liability.

That is a lame opinion offered by Trump supporters. I don't think so. The law specifically allows them restrict access to  objectionable material.

The standard Republican talking point on this right now is that affixing fact-checking links to some tweets makes Twitter a "publisher" instead of a "platform" or "forum." It might make for an interesting semantic distinction, but the legally significant issue is whether Twitter is the speaker or creator of Donald Trump's tweets. If not, it is not legally liable for them. (The same goes for every other user of Twitter, too.)

If you're thinking, "But, but, what about when Twitter creates a fact-check link and presents it after a user's posts?" Courts have routinely ruled that a digital company's decisions about how to present content (or what content to present at all) do not transform it into the speaker of user content.

But back to Trump's new order: It's an Orwellian document, defining federal government regulation of Americans' speech as "free speech" and private questioning of government authority as "censorship."

When Trump made similar exaggerated claims in April, Richard L. Hasen, a professor of law and political science at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, and author of “The Voting Wars,” told us: “Election fraud committed with absentee ballots is more prevalent than in person voting but it is still rare.”

In an op-ed published in the Washington Post, Hasen pointed to News21, a national investigative reporting project that tracks cases of election fraud. It found that about 24% of reported prosecutions between 2000 and 2012 concerned absentee-ballot fraud, making it the most prevalent type of election fraud. “But the total number of cases was just 491 — during a period in which literally billions of votes were cast,” Hasen wrote.

Today I discovered that Rick Wilson has a new-ish podcast. I also learned that Erica Jong has a daughter, because she's the other half of the podcast.

I've since listened to all of the dozen or so episodes.

I've voted in 4 elections in the past 12 months, so your "4 years" meme is a bit off.

Wal-Mart is open 24/7, and your family can have 5-6 registered voters but if you need groceries, only one of them has to go to Wal-Mart. When there are lines at Wal-Mart, they hire more cashiers. And you don't need to register to go to Wal-Mart.

2020/05/08/following-la-countys-lead-state-will-send-mail-

And the headline ......all CA voters

"Following LA County’s lead, state will send mail ballots to all CA voters
LOS ANGELES – Echoing a move taken last week by Los Angeles County, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order Friday calling for every registered voter in California to receive a mail-in ballot for the November presidential election.

“There’s a lot of concern and anxiety around this November’s election in terms of making sure that you can conduct yourself in a safe way and to make sure your health is protected,” Newsom said.

He said providing all voters with a mail-in ballot will give them “the choice not to feel like they have to go into a concentrated, dense environment where their health may be at risk” due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Newsom said the mail-in ballots will not be a substitute for physical voting locations, which will still be offered. He said the executive order he signed Friday also calls for the development of a plan by the end of the month on the locations of voting sites for the election.

Secretary of State Alex Padilla said the move makes California “the first state in the nation to respond to COVID-19 by taking this action of sending every voter a ballot in the mail in advance of the November election.”

“I think that’s huge,” he said. “There is no safer, physically distancing, healthier way to exercise your right to vote than from the safety and convenience of your own home.”

He noted that in California, sending in a vote-by-mail ballot does not require postage.

“It’s great for our public health. It’s great for voting rights. It’s going to be great for participation because this November’s election is slated to be the most consequential election of our lifetime.”

Trust us. We have no horse in this race. Any questions, ask Murph. lol.

Plus you may not have to physically travel to the local Walmart to shop for groceries.   More and more Walmart stores are now offering delivery service for customers who want to shop online.

This is so bizarre - because in CA most vote is already done by mail. You have to specifically request a mail in ballot, but if you do, you get a ballot in the mail.  All this does is get out of the opt-in for that specific feature. If someone steals your mail in ballot, and you don't get it, when you try to vote they will spoil the other ballot.

My precinct is sort of weird, I'm in the County, not a city, but I'm in the school district of the city, but a lot of people in my precinct are in the city or in the county but not in the school district.  So sometimes this small pocket of the precinct that I'm in has a different ballot than the rest of the precinct, if there is a school district election and a City election.

When that happens, they slice that I'm in is only vote by mail - there are too few people with that exact ballot to justify another polling place. So whether I want to or not, I get a vote by mail ballot.

What is the problem?

The GOP doesn't want people to vote. If a lot of people vote, they will lose. So their only hope is to change that paradigm

So now that the Bay of Covid scare is over I guess it’s back to business as usual. How in the hell did Biden end up as the nominee again? What a catastrophe.
