They're not gonna do that. They're just gonna bitch about how much we're spending in Ukraine, and we can't help our own and blah.
At some point the politicians will figure this out. Ukraine falling would have massive economic implications to the United States, far worse than the pennies we are sending them. OH NO it's not PENNIES, it's BILLIONS. I work for a company worth THREE TRILLION dollars. It's the 3rd largest company in the world, but still comprises maybe a couple percent of the S&P 500, which represents less than half of the US economy.
People have a lot of trouble diassociating $6 eggs and $60 Billion dollars to Ukraine. You at the store buying $6 eggs are a gnat on a fly's ass compared to the size of the US economy. It rightly feels like a shit ton of money that could solve a lot of problems, but there is a LOT of money to solve those other problems. And if Ukraine falls, there will be a smaller shit ton of money once the Russians control Ukraine.
Aside from the obvious example of the Ukrainian grain market... Apple is the largest company in the world, so their work does produce a lot of tax revenue. They have hundreds of employees in Ukraine. Those employees contribute to Apple's success, which is mostly enjoyed by US citizens via jobs here - across the spectrum from design to retail and the entire stack including phone accessories, mom and pop repair shops, etc...
