My son’s mother’s family are full on Italian (his grandfather was born in Italy), and I’ve heard them say dago multiple times.

I had to look Mick up. Never heard that one, but makes sense I guess.

I just mentioned that I know of people that think dago is offensive. I thought Tempo of all people would be sensitive to something like that, especially since he's implied that I'm racist solely based on where I live. Now I bring it up, and he's like oh, that's fine.

I don’t remember the conversation well, but I don’t think I implied you were racist. I think I implied you were pretty comfortable living in an overwhelmingly quiet/white town. Not exactly the same thing. Heck, I’m comfortable knowing my kid can go outside (not that he’d ever get off his video games or the iPad) knowing that he won’t get gunned down by a stray bullet meant for someone else.

Negro and black are the exact same word in different languages. One is  marginally offensive, the other is a preferred term.

Person of color is politically correct, colored person is offensive.

Orient vs occident are another example. They are fancy words for Eastern and Western, in reference to the rising and setting son.

Most of the people being offended are self loathing white people on behalf of someone else.

That’s fair. I’m on his ass all the time about getting outside more, but never fully put my foot down. My kid is pretty insular and chooses to keep a small circle of friends. There’s a polish kid a few doors down he was tight with, but my son doesn’t really play with anymore. One thing I’ll give my kid credit for, he sticks up for himself. If he thinks you’re being a dick to him, he’ll ghost your ass.

I tried to post another response about an hour ago, but seemed like the website was fritzing a bit.

I think when I said that, I figured you had limited interactions with people of color. You then informed me that you were very close to Peoria, which I didn’t know. I seem to remember you telling me you were there at least somewhat frequently. I was not overtly calling you racist, just giving you shit for your town’s lack of diversity. Hey, Itasca isn’t exactly chock full of people of color, either.
