The other article is more readable and deals with the extremist rhetoric the right uses to scare people.

Democrats wanted a complete reversal of Trump’s southern border rhetoric and policy. Biden made a great show of welcoming waves of immigrants on the campaign trail and then essentially threw the door open for most of his 4 years to appease the leftist groups Trump offended and the “borders are racist” folks.

It was reckless and cost them a sweep in 2024, not calm and reasonable.

I think there’s a lesson to be learned here. The mass migrations into Europe started about 10-12 years ago when much of the continent was firmly controlled by the same kind of folks that allowed the last four years to happen here. Some years back the backlash really started because voters weren’t happy about it (cuz they’re all racist nationalists lol) and started voting these clowns out of office. Now under new leadership these countries are rolling it all back just like we currently are. It’s just not popular policy, and it shouldn’t be.

You are half right. I don't know how familiar you are with history. Where the concept of Balkanization comes from. Or the way immigration has always played in the United States. The ethnic animus, cultural bigotry,  and scapegoating. I had thought we were past that.  It's shameful.

Oh, and I think there was a bigger culture clash in Europe, with the influx of Muslims. That is another topic.

I’m well versed in history, and am reasonably intelligent by any standard measure. To use your number, 4.5 million people came into the US through what I’ll generously refer to as “nontraditional means” under the former administration.

Resistance to that level of influx is not simply ethnic animus, cultural bigotry, or scapegoating…it was an unprecedented flow of people being released into the US. A lot of those people were fleeing the hardships of shitty leftist regimes. Blaming that on Trump’s policy is literally insane.

I don't know what point you are making. I also don't know the status of the estimated 4.5 million. I would assume some are eligible for court dates and hearings. Not all were let in. Some were 'got aways' that snuck in.

Nobody has blamed Trump for US Foreign Policy that contributed to the mess in Latin America

His failed zero tolerance and remain in Mexico policies contributed to the problems at the border.

And 2/3 - 3/4 of the country agreed with ending the lies from the Biden administration and the media, and with their management of border/immigration issues.

The lies came from the Trump Campaign and the Republican Congress.

Trump can issue Executive Orders denying reality all day. Facts remain facts.

What people oppose is a fantasy about open borders and 10 to 20 million new illegals, Harris as a failed border Czar, blah, blah, blah.

The Biden Administration had roughly the same percentage of expulsions and relatively fewer gotaways. Read my links.

What they had was a surge due to the collapse of the economy of Venezuela and declining conditions in Haiti and Nicaragua.

They inherited a massive backlog of cases from Trump along with his failed  zero tolerance and remain in Mexico policies. Also, a woeful shortage of immigration border patrol, holding facilities, courts, judges, etc.

Fact: "Last year, Guatemala received around seven deportation flights a week from the United States, according to migration officials, which translates to about 1,000 people (per week). -- NYT

The CATO Institute offers their 1st main takeaway saying that immigration reached a 21 year high before the guy who requested a surge to the border entered office and the graph appears to show that to be true.
It's the bars to the right of Jan 2021 that are just a bit higher than the 21 year high bars. Look closely, you might notice the difference.

So I'll just ignore their starting takeaway.



The 2nd main takeaway is that Biden immediately started increasing expulsions. Well that sounds good, doesn't it. We'll put that in there.
The CATO Institute doesn't appear to want to tell you that apprehensions and inadmissables increased also. They will tell you that Biden tripled Trump's expulsions.
I hope the fuck so after letting them all in.

This is a doozy too ...

The migrations just grew. Lol
The world could see the videos of thousands of migrants on their way thanking Biden for letting them come in. And those migrants could text their friends, family members and neighbors once they got here with their Biden issued phones while on their Biden issued transportation to their Biden hotel rooms to eat their Biden meals.

I stopped reading there. Like most lies, there is kernel of truth. Biden said he would welcome legitimate asylum seekers. He did not create the economic collapse in Venezuela or the worsening conditions in Haiti, Cuba, and Nicaragua.

Edit: Biden did improve the economy; which created a demand for migrant labor.
