On yesterday's Zoom, Shannon said "so is everyone taking Gonzaga?"

There wasn't a whole lot of response, because it's a Zoom. Maybe Richey said something about being a complete team. Kent said fatigue wouldn't be a concern.

Nobody said "Baylor is a known quantity of superior capability while the Zags have, as usual, little experience against good opponents."

To me, the analysis seemed pretty simple.

Baylor played great game. All credit to them.
Gonzaga was not quite ready for bear. Got abused on boards and had bad shooting night.
Bad combination.

Both very good teams.

I’m a closeted Gonzaga fan, but I think the late night OT win with miracle shot was bad news. They were not prepared to play a team like Baylor and that wasn’t the right time to get a game like that.

Baylor’s covid pause seemed to make everyone forget how good they are

“They were just so much more aggressive," Few said. “We haven’t played a team like that this year.”

There were only 2 really good teams.

Worst quality of college BB I have ever seen in my life, and continuing a slide that had already started

That was the best they played since January. Had not looked good for awhile.
They regrouped as tourney progressed and Drew is surprisingly decent coach.

It is going to look a lot like AAU except for the program that can keep a core group together for a couple years, and then they have to get those kids to buy into a system, which is an entirely different issue. And of course that coach has to have an effective system they can teach besides rolling the balls out and preaching some usual coachspeak.
Getting all of that in line will be rare.

Similar to before only much worse as the previous 35-40% transfer rate will likely go up higher now.

The problem is the best P5 players want out after 1 or 2 years which was always true.
Then, a ton of P5 guys who think they are NBA material (and are not) will transfer to get showcased better in their mind. Of course coaches will tell them what they want to hear to get them which is not new either.
Not a good recipe for team play.

A lot of best midmajor players increasingly want to move up after 1 or 2 years to get into the mix for a pro career afterwards, or just be part of a P5 program experience.

Of course, then you have the kids who just are not happy, or were in over their head, or it is a crappy program.

Unless you get a ridiculous buttload of talent in a given year (like Kentucky and Duke has typically done) or keep a good amount of talent around for a couple seasons- most teams will look ragged as fuck and compete at fairly similar sloppy inconsistent level. Kind of like the BT this year. It gets mistaken for parity.

I was playing college hoops 2k8 yesterday on my PS3 and was doing the tourney with my team... Duke as a 1 seed lost to Dartmouth a 16 seed in the simulation... first time i've ever seen that and certainly got a kick out of it LOL

At least they were in that fake tourney on 2K8 to lose to the 16 seed. Real life isn’t even treating them that well 😂

We were probably the 3rd best team in the country and it turned out we weren’t that great, so I’d say this assessment is pretty spot on.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.
