Oh, FFS.
Are you still trying to claim how good Loyola was to rationalize the Illini loss?

How do you explain that Oregon State who were total dogs in these same metrics (43 KenPOM, 91 in NET, 46 in RPI) beat them easily?

There is no way to explain the Illinois loss other than we played like total shit, and were coached like total shit against a team we should have beat easily.

Did you know Underwood says he has refused to watch the game yet?

Still makes no sense that Loyola was an 8 seed. They were a 3 seed by the net, kenpom, and rpi. A 1 seed should not play a 3 seed in second round. Ever.

Oregon State was an anomaly. They sucked early on, but got hot late, beat a number of good teams,  and way out played their metrics.

Why would Underwood watch the game?  To make adjustments for ???

And we way underplayed our metric by the same logic.
And who gives a fuck when you play someone. In a one and done format you have to be ready for anything and be able to adapt.
Our staff and players shit the bed. We would not have beaten anyone that day. We actually had several games like that before the last month of season where we didn't come out ready, prepare, or give a fuck and escaped, or got beat.
This staff has a long way to go.

I’ll accept the blame for LKdog
consistently misinterpreting what I say. I must not be communicating well.

We did not out play our top 5 metric.

Oregon State was still better than their rank late in the season

Loyola still should have been a 3 or 4 seed

Oh, you are pretty clear in a Tempo Lite sort of way.

What you are saying consistently now is it was unfair that we had to play a team that might possibly beat us in second game of NCAA's if we happened to play like ass and the staff prepared like lazy fucks, and then shit their pants during the game when it was obvious what we were doing was being taken away by garden variety high school coach tactics.

We should not be expected to play anyone very good, or play and prepare until S16 or EE I guess since we were a 1 seed. We had two AA's and BT 6th man of the year. How dare they try to beat us.

Got it.

Let's say Loyola was under seeded. They were ranked 17 in last AP poll. I'll play. They really could have have been a 4 or 5 seed and nobody would have given a shit.
Doesn't change anything. We came. We saw. We got our ass handed to us due to lack of prep and readiness from the first second.

And it does matter that Coach Hulka watch the game. He needs to learn how to make in game adjustments sometime in his career.

And as far as discounting metrics for OSU, but adhering to them for Loyola- that is just silly and illogical. In a one and done tournament- you get one 40 minute sample- not a best of 5 series.
You take everybody seriously and expect adversity. But Hulka just rolls the balls out and relies on his stars making plays and toughness. He got a hot streak by Evans at OSU to recover from a terrible 0-6 league start. He actually lost his last four games at OSU (was actually 9-10 overall in the B12) and then parlayed that into this job. Oh- and there were ranked 155th in country in defense based upon KenPom metrics.

He is totally inexperienced in the NCAA's. He snuck up up on a couple teams in early round game a couple times at SFA, and of course we beat Drexel. He has never won consecutive games in the NCAA's. He is 3-5 all time in NCAAs.

I hope he develops and I hope Antigua and Coleman stick around.

Metrics have their place. So does actually watching what is going on. At least I was consistent all year in stating the BT looked totally over rated and had a bunch of totally shit teams beyond the top 3 or 4.

I watched a lot of Loyola. The notion they were severely under seeded is not one I agree with. I’m not even remotely sure they would have beaten GT without Moses Wright, in fact I would have picked against it.

The Loyola you saw against OST was a fairly common one over their last month.

I know this because I was in the trenches with them gambling. The last 4 games...

-They scored 3 points over the last 8 minutes and lost to Drake
- 20 point favorite to Valpo.  Scored 54 and won by 2, a last second shot rimmed out for valpo
- 20 point favorite to SIU in a 2 game series. Won a grinder to the end game 1, game 2 won in OT because a SIU guy missed a FT in regulation

I think plenty of the power conference Teams would have kicked their ass. Any of those top SEC or Pac 12 teams would have pummeled them

Duly noted that Loyola had some bad games. I could come up with similar games by  virtually every good team. Everyone has good days, middling days, and bad days.

My point is seeding should reflect the metrics they are using  unless there are extenuating circumstances.
