Haven't seen you drop that "the stats are the stats" line yet today - why?

Overmatched OLine, non-existent run game, multiple crucial drops, admitted bad play-calling; but let’s get mad because the QB rating wasn’t NiCE.

Because it was terrible*

I'm not criticizing him because he wasn't perfect.  I'm criticizing him because he wasn't good.

Yeah, you pointed it out first. Then proceeded to blame Fields the rest of the way. Straight out of the PAMan playbook.

Yes - the second I put any blame on Fields, you come after me like a chihuahua because that isn't acceptable in your book.  After all, a couple guys dropped passes and I already admitted the playcalling wasn't good.

Correct, a couple guys dropped passes.  The playcalling wasn't good.  The quarterback played poorly.

All three things are true.  You only accept two of them.

If the PAMan didn't think that was a good game today by Fields, then sure.

It wasn't a very good game by Fields today.  We can pretend it was, or blame everyone else, we can deflect all blame and insulate him from any criticism.  None of this changes the fact that Fields didn't play a very good game today.  If he did you wouldn't have to come up with a half a dozen excuses for him.

Give me your list of reasons we lost today. In order. This should be great.

The top two reasons we lost I already gave you.

Terrible offensive playcalling, and mediocre as fuck quarterback play.

I don’t know how you expect a high level of QB play with that play-calling, that (lack of) protection, that (lack of) run game, and multiple critical drops. And your best (only good) WR was clearly limited.  It’s just not very reasonable. Joe Burrow doesn’t put up pretty stats today.

If Tonyan catches a perfectly thrown deep ball Justin’s numbers look quite a bit better.

Joe Burrow went 14 for 31 for 82 yards against this defense this year BTW.

And if Cleveland picks off the two balls that hit them in the hands, they look a lot worse.

I'm okay if you want to do that "if you assume everyone else plays perfectly, Fields' numbers look way better" thing - but then you have to count the times the defense fucked up plays that should've been turnovers too, right?  Cleveland could've easily scored 14 more points off two pick-6's just by catching balls that hit them right in the hands.

But someone once told me, "the stats are the stats".

Nothing you didn't expect.

Fields played badly; it was everyone but Fields' fault.

You love stats. Until you don’t (when they reflect poorly on Caleb Williams). Did you respond to the graphic of Williams leading the FBS in fumbles? Thoughts?

Something he definitely needs to clean up, no question about it.  If someone said "that's no problem", I'd disagree with them.  He needs to protect the ball better.  He tends to carry it one handed away from his body, and that'll absolutely need to be cleaned up.

Justin Fields too, still, after 36 NFL starts - he has the worst fumble rate in NFL history (but doesn't have the volume to qualify).  He fumbled twice more today.  You haven't said shit about it.  I laughed when I saw you posted that stat - but of course you did.

I’ve seen Mahomes have interceptions dropped. I’m sure of it.

Cool.  He's had lots of guys drop passes too, but still manages to be a pretty solid QB.  He pretty famously lost a game a week ago because a WR was lined up offsides.

Why are you talking about Mahomes?
