Actually had fun at the game. There were an absolute shit ton of Lions fans. Doesn't surprise me much as Detroit is relatively close and they have a good record. But the section I was in had to be 50% Lions fans. I enjoyed watching them get drunk, do the "Let's go Lions!" chant every 5 minutes, then slowly get quiet as the game got out of reach. They were a decent bunch, nobody pissed me off or got crazy. I actually felt a bit sorry for them at the end knowing they lost and had to drive back to...Detroit.
We went to a concession stand, and was greeted by a young lady who was very nice. She took our order, told us the total (34 something) and asked if we were paying cash or card. There's a big sign on the cash register that said cashless station, we only take cards, or something like that. My wife said we have cash, and looked at me. The gal said, well, the cash price is $25 dollars, and you can bring back your souvenir cup for free refills. Just put the cash here (we were on the end, and she wanted me to put the money next to the wall, out of camera view I presume). I laid the money there, she proceeded to put the cash in her coat pocket and said enjoy the game. I was thinking, this broad is probably getting 500 a game for this scam. At least. Stealing money from the hands of the McCaskeys. Didn't feel the least bit bad about it. Man, I love Chicago!
We paid 50 bucks to park at McCormick place, which is a fucking crime, but the tickets were free so I was like whatever. Someone else told me about parking in some neighborhood close by for free, but you had to watch the signs and make sure you weren't in permit parking. I was like yeah, I would rather not get my card towed, thanks. It was actually easier than I thought to get parked and get the fuck out of there.
Glad I went. It was pretty fucking cold, but I've sat through and played in much worse.
