We know Fields can run the ball. He’s a QB and needs to be able to pass. I don’t understand how that’s not relevant or significant to you. The running isn’t a sustainable thing to win games. It just isn’t.

Browns on the road will be a tough matchup. Will need a good offensive game plan which means we’re probably fucked.

I'm not ripping him.  I'm saying he was middling as a passer.  He was electric as a runner, as I've stated over and over.

That is just accurately describing the game he had, not ripping him.  You are dug in so far that to you, any accurate accounting of his play is "ripping him" unless I'm willing to ignore all the negatives.  Hell, earlier in the day you were taking me complimenting the offensive line as an implicit dig on Fields.  You're in full defensive cultist mode.

I am glad we won.  He played well enough to win overall, obviously.  A dominant defense helps.  What I am looking for (as I've stated a bunch of times) in the last five weeks is to see this obvious improvement as a passer, which he will need to show if he's ever going to be worth a huge second contract.  Today wasn't it.  Maybe next week.

Need to see him as passer the last 4-5 is very important part of that discussion and we didn’t see it in this Lions game.

Exactly. And nobody is questioning his running or athletic ability. It’s that he can’t pass consistently and he just improvises too much because of not being able to pass. It’s not sustainable and you can’t have a QB who won’t/can’t throw the ball. It’s indicative of his career so far.

Fields TD pass was nice even if Detroit played the worse defense you could possibly play in that situation short of having zero defenders on the field. He didn't turn the ball over. Kept chains moving with his legs.

Not an elite performance but more than good enough to get the win.
