Frustrating player in some ways but unique. Probably because he’s been built up to be something he’s not and we keep expecting him to be that something. More often than not he’s a solid player that does a lot of things. Attitude sucks. Lkdog is probably too hard on him. He kind of is what he is at this point.

Put him on the Illini All-Time Disappointment team with Jereme Richmond, Marcus Liberty, Meyers Leonard, and Crandall Head.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Agree with your list. Add Shaun Pruitt?

Dude was a sub 100 RSCI. Not sure why people tried to make him out to be the next Anthony Davis.

He's ultimately a 3-star recruit who can play as a wing forward or athletic 5 with better handles on the perimeter than the typical 4 but gets pushed around by bigger 5s and his basketball IQ is below average. He's a useful piece on a NCAA tournament team that was sold to us as a point-forward who can be the 2nd best player on a B1G title team. I think he'll make a lot of money as a pro but not in the league.

All those guys were exceptional athletes, something Hawkins is not.  Actually, based on his size, skill set and top 200 ranking, he should be compared with guys like Scott Meents, Bill Cole, Mike Tisdale ...

Interesting that a guy like Liberty is considered a disappointment because of expectations. He played 2 years here. Lost one year due to fucked up NCAA rules. Was then 6th man on a FF team. Averaged 18 points and 7 rebounds his final year.

Hawkins actually had one of his better games statistically. 5A/2TO's, 8 Rebounds. Was 3-5 from field. Didn't brick line drive threes mindlessly.
He was just a little bitch all night as usual, got beat easily one on one on D several times, and passed up a few wide open 13 footers which he has start taking.

Shaun Pruitt was a far greater contributor than the rest of the list.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

NBA Meyers Leonard on the other hand...

B1G Honorable Mention isn’t enough production from the most athletic 7’0 player Illinois has ever had. He was drafted almost strictly on potential.

“Good” isn’t quite what you’re looking for from the #1 recruit in the country.
He was a disappointment compared to what was expected.
