I’m not sure that’s how I’d characterize what I have said.

If Caleb Williams had put together a year like he had the year before and was still looking like a generational talent rather than more Lincoln Riley fool’s gold, then you take him in a heartbeat and never look back. That didn’t happen. And the Bears need tons of pieces.

So in my mind it might make more sense to leverage the top pick for more pieces and try to hang onto JFC an inexpensively as possible with the thought that years 4-5–6 JFC may very well be as good or better than years 1-2-3 Caleb Williams.  With maybe a higher floor.

I don’t think JFC is going to be a super star at any point in his career but I think with some reasonable improvement he could win a lot of games if he has help.

That’s not at all unlike what I’ve been saying, and I get mocked for it relentlessly. The only difference being I think he can still be a “superstar,” however you want to define that. But he has a relatively high floor. He can certainly do everything Jalen Hurts has done with similar talent around him.

No, but he’s played with 1st (Biletnikoff winner), 2nd round, 5 star receivers. Also about 4-5 others who figure to be drafted (a couple as early as 2nd or 3rd round), or are currently on the payroll of an NFL team. He’s had plenty of really good receivers to throw to.
