He, in my opinion, is considerably better as a passer in broken play situations than Fields. 

Fields is notably better as a runner, like tucking the ball and getting yardage on the ground IMO, but doesn’t keep his eyes up field and find open guys on broken plays like Williams did in the tape I watched of him.  I think that’s also where Williams’ trouble will come in the league - whereas a lot of guys I think you need to add to their game in the NFL, Williams will need to be reined in some for sure.

Like I said at the time, I think the comp (in style, not quality) is more in the Rodgers/Mayfield “gunslinger” mold than Fields.  Both are great at using their feet to escape pressure, but they have different skill sets from that point on.

I think it’s fair to say those will be way harder for him in the NFL than they are in college.  But I went into that tape having only really heard Tempo and Bears Reddit’s “he’s just a smaller Fields” scouting report and I didn’t see that from him really at all.  He planted his back foot on the drop and let it rip far more consistently than I expected.

Obviously not based on size, but as you stated earlier, Williams comp to a lot of people is Aaron Rodgers. I’ll take that all day please…

Rodgers is IMO the best quarterback I’ve ever seen play.  Obviously would take that, but would be silly to expect any prospect to turn into Aaron Rodgers.  That’s why I put Mayfield on there as a somewhat bust (recent play notwithstanding)

If he was that style of QB and was a top-5/8 guy in the league he would have a statue outside Soldier Field though.

Agreed. I see absolutely no one comparing Fields to Rodgers, making the Williams and Fields comparisons inaccurate. Very different players.

Fields is often compared to Lamar.

If the Bears do draft Williams, I’d definitely be willing to draft Brenden Rice a bit early to pair them up.

I think Fields and Lamar is a much better comparison than Fields and Caleb Williams.
