"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

I legitimately can’t think of an analogous situation in my sports watching life, other than Weber.  The guy goes out and is mediocre damn near every week and every week there’s a new list of excuses for why it, once again, wasn’t actually his fault.

And like I said earlier, it’s extremely clear that Drake Maye or especially Caleb Williams will get zero leeway if they end up with one of them next year.  It’s going to be absolutely gross to watch Tempo flip his QB expectations if they move on from Fields.

The Weber to Fields comp is just so ridiculously bad.

It is right on point.  Idiots supporting/supported both.

One guy is a program defining coach with total and unchallenged control over personnel and schemes. The other has no meaningful input when it comes to personnel or scheme. One guy is totally responsible for program environment, the other is just a foot soldier being told to make the best of what he’s been given (which has been very little).

Again, it’s funny how no shortage of former and current players say that Justin Fields can play, and HQ2 Bros are so cocksure that he can’t.

We probably watch more games than they do. Plus we were not hit in the head as often.

Both are leaders of cults of personality despite sucking ass. And the followers are crazy losers who are not satisfied until everyone is in the cult.

I’m not “cocksure that he can’t”, only sure that he has not and that he has a pretty large sample size to this point.

I was fully on board a year ago with trading the top pick because of Fields.  He had shown some improvement at the end of the season and I thought he was likely to have a breakout year where he showed quicker decisions, more accurate and consistent passing.  But that didn’t happen.  He’s not really notably better as a passer than he was a year ago.

He has not been very good this year, and they have the top pick again.  It would be a very obvious and easily avoided Bearsy mistake to pass on a QB again in the hope that Fields suddenly gets way better in a new system in year 4 with $100m+ on the line.  Could it happen?  Sure.  Is it likely to happen?  Not at all.

I’m the middle of 20 minutes of Caleb Williams highlights. He’s got a nice feathery touch when he needs it, which some really good QBs don’t even have. Most of his plays are off script or to WRs that have a lot of separation. Good athlete. Reminds me a bit of Tarkenton the way he scrambles around the pocket. Brendan Rice is pretty darn good. Any team that drafts Caleb might be smart to try to get Rice, too. They seem to have great chemistry.

And he can rip it fast when he wants too.

I genuinely appreciate you at least going and trying to watch him play.  It’s not hard to see why he has the reputation he does as a prospect, obviously.

The “every play” highlights of the bad games from this year made me more sure, not less, that he can be really good.

So far the only thing I think he has on Fields is touch.

He keeps his head up looking to throw the ball first and that’s important. Also Williams can make the easy throws. Doesn’t appear Fields can with anticipation. Hence no slants and such being called.
