It would be interesting to find out what the play was supposed to look like. Fields had a nice pocket but nobody ran a pattern to fit the pocket.
Was the play completely miscommunicated in the huddle ?

Adam Hogue reporting that he’s already hearing rumblings about dissatisfaction at Halas Hall about play-calling and game planning. Didn’t say if that’s players, GM or what. Players I’m assuming.

Although can’t imagine Poles is happy, either.

It’s not like I hate the Bears—I really wish they were good. It’s embarrassing af living in a new area and having to admit I’m a Bears fan. I just have no emotion to invest in a franchise that consistently makes such godawful decisions. At some point you have to look at the common denominator and realize nothing is going to change for the better until the actual root problems are addressed.

Bye and large I like the approach Poles has taken. He’s had some hits and had some what look to be bad misses thus far. Nate Davis, Chase Claypool, Velus Jones, and Lucas Patrick for example.

I think Flus is a probably a good coach (but probably had a bad preseason plan). He’s shown some willingness to learn up to this point. Something Nagy never showed. I don’t know if he and Getsy are the right coaches to get Fields to where he needs to be. For the most part I’ve not been a fan of Getsy. Yes, he improvised and got the offense going last year, but hasn’t shown he can do it without a dynamically athletic quarterback using his legs. After watching that tape last night what confidence I did have him which wasn’t a ton, is shot.

I hate to say game 2 is do or die, but if they look bad, this could go off the rails Marc Trestman style.

I still think the general trend with the franchise is upward, but it definitely took a shot to the gut Sunday.

Where Poles possibly fucked up the most was choosing a defensive hustle coach to groom his quarterback. I like Flus, but I’d rather have Jim Caldwell right now.
