The truly sad thing is that it doesn’t take a doctorate to recognize that it’s mental illness.
Tens of millions of Americans take a daily antidepressant or anxiety pill, most with significant side effects, for relatively mild clinical depressive or anxiety disorders. (Mental illness)
But people who have gender dysphoria that go into debt to mutilate their bodies and take hormones to chase a reality that they can never, ever achieve is fine and dandy!
These same people are many, many times more likely to attempt or commit suicide than the former group of people who have recognized mental illness, and it’s not simply because they’re marginalized, but because they had mental illness to begin with!
The progressive argument around the gender issues seems to be based around not believing what my own eyes and brain tell me, backed with self-serving and tenuous-at-best research. Scary when participation trophies and gentle parenting have trickled down to medicine and research. Like George Carlin said 30 years ago, “People have been bullsh*tted by the system into believing that if you change the name of the condition, somehow you'll change the condition”
The progressive left:
“Destigmatize mental health, normalize conversations and effective forms of treatment!”
Also the progressive left:
“(insert condition here) is NOT a mental health issue, they just need love and compassion”
Gay people are called gay for a reason. Generally some of the happiest, most upbeat people I come across. Most of the trans people I’ve been around have some serious issues that they need genuine help with, not progressive enablement to keep grasping at all the wrong straws.
