And those who can't teach, tell / teach others how to teach.

Like, those who don't know have a clue how to raise children, tell others how to raise their children.

Education is mostly inspiring the kids to want to learn, instilling intellectual curiosity.  Then it's possible to save them time by teaching them how to think. Really, though, once the fire is lit, no one can stop them. I attended fairly good schools, but they were largely a waste of time.

99% of what I learned was self motivated on my own time.

School was mostly incredibly dumbed down. I pretty much finished the course work in the first week, and spent the rest of the term tutoring other students.

I was a (small) public school kid but that was a long time ago. My kids are in private school and it will stay that way. Ms Custard grew up wanting to be a teacher and taught elementary school for 4 years after college. Left for 1/10 the headaches and 5x the pay at age 26. I originally was against private school, but she insisted. In retrospect, I am glad she did. It’s been worth every penny.

Never said I was gifted.
I do technically qualify for mensa, but never bothered with that. I always thought I was stupid.

School was just too easy and incredibly boring. I slept through much of it. That was before the liberal self esteem crowd dumbed it down even worse.

Next to religious institutions, private schools are a great place to groom and abuse kids. Hope they ran a background check on the administrators and teachers.

Of course they do. I had to do a background check to be a chaperone on a field trip to a state park before school got out this spring.
