Let me get this straight.  LA gov signs a bill requiring the 10 commandments be posted in every classroom?   I think the horse is behind the carriage here.  Hey gov, don't you think it would be better to teach those kids how to read first?

The Governor of the Great State of Minnesota, who ran on a platform of education, absolved his Department of Education of any criminality in its lack of oversight of a $250 million fraud scheme.

Rather than saying there will be accountability and expectations in his Dept of Education after an Office of Legislative Auditor report critical of the DoE, he comes up with 'nobody at the DoE has been found to have done anything illegal' and 'we can always do better'.

Donald Trump bragged about grabbing women by their Vagina. He was found civilly liable for doing just that. He was convicted of a felony for charged related to paying hush money to another woman. Yet half the country thinks he is fit to serve as President, and a disturbing number think he's a messenger from GD.

Terrence Shannon was [wrongfully] accused of grabbing a woman by the vagina, and there were a significant number of Illini fans who thought he was unfit to represent the University on a basketball court.

I go to church probably 45 Sundays a year (sometimes I’m out of town or sick or something) and volunteer a lot. I can’t recall anyone ever saying that the Ten Commandments should be in the classroom, and certainly not with any tears in their eyes.

I always used to think my Democrat friends were nuts for always wanting more money for education.  After all, most people aren’t getting into teaching for the riches and notoriety.  As I’ve gotten older and watched a lot of good teachers I know leave education for other pursuits, typically because of politics and bureaucratic nonsense, I’ve thought a time or two that maybe we should pay these people more.

In some ways it’s the same decline that’s hit police forces—keep lowering the entry standards, pay like shit, force them into a never ending cycle of red tape and “Gentle Parenting/Policing” school of thought nonsense, and then everyone wonders why the end product is garbage. About the only people left to do the work are people who can’t do much of anything else in society—the conservative ones choose law enforcement and the liberal ones tend towards education/government.

So given all that, it’s sadly unsurprising that 250 million went missing and they are just passing the buck.

If the shoe doesn't fit, by all means don't wear it. Tell people who want to post the 10 C. In public buildings to stfu. Maybe suggest the beatitudes instead.

You have seen how conservatives who go against Trump and his lunatic fringe are treated. That's a reality.
