Your posts make me laugh pretty consistently, actually.

Like you know in Seinfeld when Costanza just can't stop, he takes his maybe-reasonable point to extreme depths with no shame whatsoever?  It's funny right?

Been a long time since I watched Seinfeld. Sorry.

Or blind.

I do not care if he is from Oswego. I have no clue if he is any good at all. Illinois losing a transfer kid it, allegedly really wanted, to Utah is not a good look.

But you will keep carrying on with your B1G Regular Season Banner love.

It's never a good look when a coach loses a kid they really wanted and spent lots of time and resources on, I'll agree with that.

As to where they went to HS four years ago and where they committed, those things really play into it except in the minds of fans.  Or at least they never play in the same way twice, and there's no way for us to know how they weighed what factors.

Underwood is not going anywhere soon unless he misses tourney the next two years, and/or has first round exits both years.

Or he might take his money and run because he doesn't want to or can't play the new recruiting game.

Why should he leave when he is able to keep extorting money from Guenther, Jr.?

So the only exception you took with Tempo's post was his mention of Oswego?

It's amazing how quickly we forget.

Just because Illinois hired complete idiots before Underachiever does not make Underachiever worthy of being a top 10 paid coach.

What?!

I know it is still on all the time, but I watched it in the 90s, or whenever it was on.

So the only exception you took with Tempo's post was his mention of Oswego?

I mean, was I unclear?  LOL.

Yeah, the idea that it's a "bad look" to lose a "mid-major kid from Oswego" - as opposed to any other kid we really wanted and spent a ton of time on - is meathead fan shit.

Which, again, you already know because you read my posts right?  I was pretty damn clear in the very first reply.

Did you enjoy those years?  I did not, I prefer hanging banners and winning conference titles and winning a bunch of games, even if we ultimately underperform in the tournament.  That, to me, sure beats not even playing in it.

You're notably underselling the likelihood of going back to a situation like that.

Could we hire somebody better than Underwood?  Sure, we could.  It's just way more likely that we hire someone worse.

So, it was only the Oswego part you took exception to. The part where Illinois lost a kid to Utah is irrelevant?

Man, you should do that.  Seems up your alley, maybe.

Curb too.

Tempo didn't say anything about Utah, but no, I don't care that it's Utah specifically.

Why should he leave when he is able to keep extorting money from Guenther, Jr.?

Agree he is overpaid.
I think he is pretty much just a guy.

Not bad, not good. Kind of an old school prick.
Some kids clearly do not like it.
Others do.

Did great job with the COVID year team.
Can't argue with his success overall in getting Illinois back in the mix, but the NCAA tourney prep and game planning has been subpar and it is a theme in his career.

1. Of course not. Yes, being in The Tourney is better than not being in it. But, Illinois should more often than not be in The Tourney and actually get to the S16, at a minimum.

2. I do not think so. There are plenty of competent coaches out there.

3. Of course we could. Guenther Jr already did hire someone worse once. That is is way more likely to hire someone worse is an indictment by you of Guenther Jr.
