They use a formula based on how many followers you have on social media, what level of school you play at, etc.
Most 2nd round picks get guaranteed deals these days. A two-way basically means playing in the G-League.
I'm curious whether you actually believe that a basketball scholarship's true value is $30,000 a year.
A two way is a pretty good deal. $500K plus. Each team gets to keep two guys on a two way beyond the 15 man roster and nobody else can poach them IIRC.
A typical G League salary is $40K for guys not on any kind of guaranteed contract. Better off in Europe or taking NIL.
I would think Illinois could match $500k for TSJ or Hawkins if they really wanted if they were unsure if they were going to get one of the two way deals.
Both are borderline to get a two way or roster spot IMO unless they really impress in workouts.
Of course a guaranteed rookie minimum roster spot for a second rounder is the ideal.
A reach for either of them, but who knows.
FWIW the rumor on Hunter Dickinson was several million in NIL.
Smart move as I think he is not a long term NBA roster guy in this lifetime.
