I do not think it is in the competitive spirit to have a sports model that rewards losing as much as the NBA and NFL do. It makes for a bunch of shitty meaningless games, but people still fall all over themselves to watch them and obsess over them even in May, so why would they change anything?

Blame the contracts. Specifically for quarterbacks. It’s idiotic that the most precious thing an NFL franchise can have is a top QB on a rookie deal. It handcuffs everything else. All pro sports are like this. The Blackhawks went into the tank after they paid their star players. The Cubs and Sox both had to tank to rebuild. It is what it is.

You actually see less (purposeful) tanking in the NFL than other sports.

Yeah it is what it is, which has turned me off to the NBA and NFL in general. Maybe I’m the only one that can’t get excited about sports where teams are losing on purpose. Seems like there could be a better way.

Mn? Was this legit opinion or were you just trolling?
I've told him. I've watched Bears games for longer than he's been alive.

Separately, I don't advocate for tanking. 3-14 is 3-14. A franchise record for consecutive losses is an unwanted franchise record.
And I've seen plenty of bad Illini football. The punter was the MVP one year.

Been too busy, but, Mn is right that it is only May. LOL. That the JFC Cabal does not get it, or studied the Founding Fathers and Jefferson's back stabbing (really disappointed with Nichi not knowing any of that), to be expected. Ta ta for now.

There should be an Onion headline like, "Idiot about everything else is also an idiot about this."

It'd get a lot of use.

When you’re way underwater on money and draft capital, keep digging! Ryan Pace would! Don’t be smart and absorb your lumps for one year! Put together the best team you can so you can draft 13th every year!

I’ll bet Mn laments that the ‘85 Bears went 1-3 in the preseason.

He seems to care quite a bit about mostly meaningless games.
