"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Eamon Lynch, delivers as usual. Brilliant golf writer.

https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2023/06/11/eamon-lynch-pga-tour-deal-saudis-measured-in-what-is-lost-reputations/

The only reason the PGA did it is because they didn’t wanna open their books in a lawsuit. Goes to show you they were afraid of having to explain where all the money went. Crooks acting like the PGA is a non-profit. GTFOOH.

Certainly plausible. They also aren’t built for long drawn-out lawsuits with the richest family in the world.

I just don’t find the outrage you and others have about “loyalty” and some golfers deflecting to LIV. It’s weird. Rory and others always have the option to go play somewhere else if their “morals” are so good and they won’t take blood money. Of course him and the others won’t/aren’t gonna do that. So what’s the big deal?! They’ll take it and enjoy it, except they missed out on a big payday. If anything they should be mad at the PGA for smuggling the money that should’ve went to their golfers on Tour from winning events.

It’s pretty funny that JudgeJudy thinks the PGA Tour looks like the bad guys and cheers on the Saudi Royal families’ takeover of a charitable (if not perfect) entity.

It’s exactly the same mentality that drives the Trump cult.

Nice strawman. You’re an idiot. I never said that at all. I’m saying that all you righteous assholes look pretty fucking hypocritical now. You still gonna watch golf? They still gonna play? Support the same thing you thought was “awful?!”

Edit- And SOMEHOW Tempo brings up Trump regarding this. It’s truly fascinating how fucked up people are regarding bringing him up for EVERYTHING. Pardon my use of this word, but it is fucking RETARDED!!!

Perfect response. But not in the way he thinks.

Two hypocritical men make a surreptitious deal with the corrupt Saudis, and somehow Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are the bad guys. Perfect logic.

If they continue to take the money they’re just as corrupt and hypocritical as the others.

No reasonable person would expect them to abandon their careers in order to make a “moral stand.” You are a dipshit with totally unreasonable expectations.

No, they aren’t. I’d argue MBS, who beheads journalists and gays is worse. Even Phil Mickelson isn’t as bad as MBS.

Again, you’re creating a strawman. I never said they were as bad as MBS. You’re misinterpreting I’m saying. They’re no better than Mickelson, Norman, Koepka, etc, or anyone else that took the payday they did to join LIV. That’s my argument.

I would disagree with that as well. Those players chose to go to LIV. The others didn’t. Also, judging by reports that 90% of the feedback in the players meeting with Monahan was anti-merger (reports said calls to replace Monahan were cheered).

The LIV players made the decision to jump in bed with the Saudis willingly. The players who remained loyal to the Tour did so for various reasons. What do you expect McIlroy and Scheffler to do? Go play in Japan for 1/10th the money and no career legacy? That’s not a reasonable expectation.

With the exception of probably Cam Smith, every “star” player that joined LIV was not viewed in the best light by their peers. Mickelson, Reed, DeChambeu, Johnson, and Koepka were not by and large loved by their peers.
