The bottom line is that McIlroy, Scheffler, Rahm, et al are professional golfers. That’s their job, and their passion. The fact that a merger (that they had no hand in creating) should mean they should just play in Japan for far less money and legacy is bullshit.
To say that guys that turned down money in the dozens of millions or even hundreds of millions in a few cases are “no different” than the guys who lapped up the money first chance they got is completely laughable.
Again, McIlroy, Scheffler, Rahm et al are the world’s best golfers. They are not political figures or statesman. I’d love it if they gave a huge finger to the Saudis and the PGA, but that is just not a realistic expectation.
