Hawkins is complete mess. Was asked to be a leader and has shit the bed. Gets the ball open 4 feet away and turns his back to the hole and kicks it out.
He has zero confidence in his shot. Can't pass, cant take anyone big or small off the bounce.
He needs to be at the 5 and option number 3 in possession time which he can probably handle.
If he doesn't improve, bench him and play Dainja at the 5 and bring him off the bench.

Hawkins had 6 TOs. His 5th game out of 12 with 5 or more TO's.

UW is idiot to keep having him with the ball in his hands so much. He is killing us.

He is shooting 7 for 35 from three (20%) since the EIU first game which apparently was an aberration.
Teams can play off him and he can't do a damn thing about it. No pull up, can't get to hole, cant shoot FT's.
He needs to score off Off rebounds, put backs, running the court.
Anything else is gravy.
He is an Off liability. His Off Rating in KenPom is 98.
The worst out of our top 8 guys in playing time.
That is really pretty bad for a guy who we run the offense through.


Time for retooling the lineup and roles.

What you are seeing is a team of parts that don’t fit together combined with zero coaching.

Dennis Gates had his team moving the ball, cutting, playing with purpose. 

Poor roster construction combined with 0 coaching. Illinois doesn’t run anything.  And their defensive philosophy is atrocious.  But that’s not a surprise.  The defense was only masked by Kofi.  Before him it sucked.  After it sucks.

I think he was still in a boot tonight.
Have not heard anything about when he will be ready.
He can shoot and is tough. We could use that.

Biggest issue is over using Hawkins and under using Shannon.
Get Hawkins off the ball.

I am sure there will be changes moving forward.
