Today he is apparently censoring some unflattering documentary about Modi at the behest of the Indian government. Interesting.

Freaking hilarious...

https://news.yahoo.com/ex-twitter-officials-confirm-congress-185525001.html

As the hearing was still in session, Rolling Stone reported that Trump’s demand to take down Teigen’s tweet was “hardly an isolated incident.” According to former Trump officials and Twitter staffers, prominent Republicans and the ex-president routinely asked the company to remove posts—the same behavior they’re now insisting shows Democrats and Twitter conspired to silence conservatives and restrict their free speech.

For some reason, none of this has been revealed in the many editions of Musk’s “Twitter Files,” which have almost entirely concentrated on communications sent by Democrats and government agencies to Twitter.

Look over here, not over there. 👀🙈

If an individual wants to request Twitter take down a tweet that is directed at them, I suppose they should have that right. It may not be approved, but that's a different kettle of fish.

If the government or other actor gets involved in the request, that's also a different kettle of fish.
And Taibbi's write-up from 2 months ago clearly indicated that there were requests from Trump. This is nothing new.

So the outrage was selective. Thanks!

I think President Trump was part of the government?

He can pick up the phone and call Yoel Roth or his good buddy Jim McCabe to request a tweet be removed, the same as Hunter Biden could.
Requests coming from governmental agencies or their subcontractors are quite different.

So threatening to use his power to regulate or shut them down is ok?

These hearings are going to bite the Republicans in the ass six ways from Sunday.

Here is a completely different take on the twitter files:

"There is a difference between receiving government counsel and following government orders, and nothing in the files indicates the latter has been done."

"...despite the concerns of pundits, the files do not actually show Twitter being compelled to act against its will."

I agree that purely petty personal requests are different than requests from law enforcement or intelligence agencies.

lol. The RuSsIaNs are coming. The RuSsIaNs are coming. The Russian's influence was minimal compared to the influence of the government, Hamilton68, other groups and the media.
And true, good luck finding something from the government to Twitter, Facebook or whoever in black and white that says "you are compelled".

And I'm not sure your linked article says anything other than an attempt to justify for their work.
"On the contrary, when done correctly, this communication can foster balance and a safer social media experience for everyone. The Twitter Files certainly show, however, that so far these collaborations have often been ad hoc and distrusted. We have work to do, but it is work worth doing.

Nice closing line.
