The fact that the administration is rehiring thousands of employees they just fired seems a clear indication you’re wrong. And even they think so.
Ding, ding, ding. Of course, the mass or blanket firings include “essential workers”. Just look at the hundreds of employees that were rehired at the Department of Agriculture, National Nuclear Security Administration, Small Business Administration and other departments after they were fired under the DOGE purge.
Look at the “probationary employees” who were fired without any regard to the functions they perform. Some were veteran employees that had simply transferred to another job. The DOGE dipshits have no idea of what these employees do or what their departments are responsible for.
I don’t question the Trump Administration’s goals to make government more efficient or shift program priorities to be more in line with its policy goals. Shut programs down or shift employees around, I don't care. But don’t be stupid about it.
Where are the legions of “forensic auditors” that Republicans for years have claimed will help ferret out waste and inefficiency in government? There are hundreds of private auditing firms that have experience in assessing local, state and federal programs. There are thousands of retired or former government employees who have experience in restructuring or reorganizing government offices.
Establish priorities, target the programs in question and hire several firms to review and make recommendations to agency directors. Work with knowlegeable staff. Then go to Congress and tell them which programs should be abolished or modified.
Try governing for a change.
