I believe this team will beat Evanston’s Big Ten team, but it’ll be closer and uglier than we hoped.
8-4 with no blowout losses would be a pretty remarkable season even with the frustration of losing 4 very winnable games.
A thought that crossed my mind earlier in the season about the time we reached 7-1 is that it looked like 10-2 was very much in play, and would put us in the B1G title game where tOSU would shred us for about 45 points in front of a national audience. And then we’d also go to a bowl game that was out of our league and get murdered there by a top SEC team.
So we are probably going to draw a much more similar bowl opponent and have the chance to end the year on a high note rather than a big national reminder that we aren’t playing in the same sandbox as the elite programs yet.
Yes this is being said after we just went toe to toe with #3 Michigan in the Big House for 40 mins, and I’m really proud of the effort and the progress it shows. But I have a feeling next week will show that Michigan is closer to our level than they are to OSU this year. And they were missing some pretty big time players especially Corum who ran all over us in the first half.
