I also had a chuckle at the premise that if only an Obama-like guy were president to explain everything, that blue-collar people of color would then agree with the progressive dogma.

I have a chuckle at the premise that there isn't a large portion of the American public who has little knowledge of policy at all and just votes for the best looking or most charismatic player

Good to know you two are not in denial and know more than Ruy Teixera. Granted, Teixera's (and John Judis') thesis in 2002's The Emerging Democratic Majority was infamously WRONG. But Mr. Teixera appears to have taken a detour after his error.

The truth is that politics in this country is fickle. It always has been.  Democratic party rule was never inevitable.  But I would agree that many Dems are so far into the 3rd wave feminism, LGBT, and other things that many people don’t feel like the party makes their lives any better.  Got to get back to the bedrock of politics which is the economy.  And we need more Dems like Beto, Lucas and Stacey who are going door to door and having town halls in little towns.
