There is no denying Trump and his ilk want it both ways. Trump had 10 to 11 months to change course and resume hostilities. He didn't.

"... the Trump administration kept to the pact, reducing U.S. troop levels from about 13,000 to 2,500, even though the Taliban continued to attack Afghan government forces and welcomed al-Qaeda terrorists into the Taliban leadership."

Trump still agreed to have the other 2500 out by May even though he knew the Taliban violated the terms.

Trump is just as guilty as Biden, really moreso, because he left Biden with no viable alternatives. It was either a messy pullout without enough troops, or remain ensnared in the forever war.

True, however, how many more would have died if we had stayed on?  Messy ending was inevitable whenever it was.  Probably better sooner than later.

Getting involved there to begin with was probably.a mistake.

Blame Trump for what he did. Trump took credit for zero casualties due to Doha.

Trump drew troop levels down to 2500.

Trump failed to hold Taliban accountable for terms of Doha.

Trump takes credit for ending the 20 year war.

Biden could have abrogated the agreement and  sent 10000 plus troops back in.

What would you have done better?

The withdrawal was going to be messy, especially after Trump set May 1 as a date certain to have the remaining 2500 troops out.

Fox News lies. They say Biden could have used Bagram -- 40 miles from Kabul, for the evac. They say Trump planned to leave the 2500 in place. They don't really believe that. It's parody

Biden had no real alternatives. A messy pullout or a messy escalation. He increased troop levels to 5000 for the withdrawal. There were 13000 when Trump took office.

Trump only cares about making himself look good.

People mistake the GOP for the pro-military party. What the GOP actually likes are defense contractors. They don’t give a piss about soldiers. Unless they can be used as props.

I don't see how anyone can defend Trump while attacking Biden. Biden simply finished a process that Trump started. Reducing troops from 13000 to 2500 and promising to have the rest out in 3 months was easy. What about our allies and American citizens in Afghanistan? What about the bases and our military materiel?

Why would anyone with any synapsis firing follow any agreement Trump made here? Maybe you can blame Biden for following Trump's idiocy or not reassessing the situation?
